The makers of Ramayana, director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic, took the film to CinemaCon, the annual global convention for the cinema industry—held in Las Vegas. Producer Namit Malhotra and actor-producer Yash not only presented the film’s first glimpse at the event but also engaged with international media through a series of interactions.

Now, fresh details have emerged from the event, with an attendee revealing that select viewers were shown exclusive footage from the film.

Ramayana screened at CinemaCon

A YouTuber from the channel Mr Like It Or Not shared in a video on Saturday that the makers screened around 20 minutes of early footage from Ramayana at CinemaCon. In the video titled ‘Ramayana Secret Footage Shown at CinemaCon’, the creator described the film as “both a true grand epic and a spectacular fantasy story.”

The creator further claimed that Warner Bros has come on board as the film’s international distributor. “They just landed a big distribution here in America that will give them a big, global push. Warner Bros Studios will be distributing this film globally. That is a very big deal—over 4500 screens showing this film this November,” they said.

However, it is important to note that neither the film’s team nor Warner Bros Discovery has officially confirmed this development.

‘This film will get an Oscar nomination’

In the same video, the creator praised the scale and visual appeal of the footage. “I was lucky enough, with about 15 other people, to see around 20 minutes of footage. It looks stunning. The visuals look fantastic. This is going to be a very big international feature,” they said.

They also speculated on the film’s awards potential, adding, “I am pretty sure they are going to push for some Academy Awards in a bunch of categories, especially a nomination for the International Feature Film.”

Responding to a viewer’s doubt in the comments section, the creator doubled down, saying, “From what I saw, I absolutely think this will get a Best International Feature Oscar nomination. The narrative works very well.”

Fans reaction on this matter

The film’s visual effects had previously drawn mixed reactions after its first glimpse was released earlier this month. One fan wrote, “From what I saw, I absolutely think this will get a best international feature Oscar nomination. To me, the narrative works very well.” Several fans are raising questions about it, where the Youtuber Mr Like It Or Not wrote in reply, “I believe the VFX is not going to be an issue.”

All about Ramayana

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is planned as a two-part cinematic saga. Part One is slated for release this November, while Part Two is expected to arrive in 2027.

The film features a star-studded cast, with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.
